 » June 29, 2008 Resort Update

June 28, 2008

Greetings, Adventurers!

Today's Resort Update features close to 70 photographs featuring the latest happenings around Universal Orlando including Potter construction, Guts tryouts, Mummy enhancements, the return of Universal 360 and much more.

In the spotlight:

  • Brendan Fraser visits Universal - Mummy star Brendan Fraser is scheduled to make an appearance at Universal Studios Florida on July 11. He will be premiering an exclusive clip from The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in front of the Revenge of the Mummy attraction, followed by a Question & Answer session with park guests. The event begins at 2:00pm.
  • Open Late! - Universal and Islands of Adventure are open until 10:00pm from now until August 16th, and with later hours, nighttime show "Universal 360" returns.
  • Celebrate the 4th at Universal - Universal has three ways visitors can celebrate the 4th of July. At 10:00pm at Universal Studios Florida, a special presentation of Universal 360 will be held - complete with a special patriotic finale. Islands of Adventure will offer special extended hours until 11:00pm, and CityWalk will hold special All-American barbeque from 5pm-9pm. Fireworks will not be visible from Islands of Adventure or CityWalk due to construction on new park attractions.

In some sad and otherwise unspoken news, The Flying Unicorn will close to guests on July 7th as Harry Potter construction overtakes the back end of The Lost Continent. While this has not yet been confirmed by Universal, several IOACentral sources have told us otherwise.

Hogwarts construction continues, and it's done nothing but grown in the past two weeks.

I don't know how long this sign has been here, but it's new to me.

A bit raunchy for a T-Shirt, eh? That's why we love you, Universal.

Nickelodeon is bringing back their old show "GUTS," and best of all - it's going to be filming at Universal Studios Florida later this year, right where it filmed oh so many years ago. The show will be debuting on Nick at Nite this Fall/Winter. Tryouts were held at Universal CityWalk for the show.
